Cadaver labs

On Friday 31st October 2025, two half-day cadaveric surgical training sessions will be held at the Melbourne University Anatomy Department. The morning session (08:00–12:00) will be tailored for novice and training surgeons, focusing on core anatomical understanding and foundational hernia repair techniques. The afternoon session (13:00–17:00) will cater to more experienced surgeons, showcasing advanced procedures in abdominal wall reconstruction and complex hernia repair. Participants will benefit from instruction by leading national and international hernia surgeons, offering an unparalleled opportunity to learn directly from experts at the forefront of the field. A Da Vinci robotic system will be available throughout the day, with both minimally invasive and open approaches demonstrated and practiced. This highly interactive lab features fresh-frozen cadaveric specimens enabling realistic, hands-on dissection and surgical simulation in a world-class academic setting. From laparoscopic and robotic repair to open component separation, participants will be exposed to a comprehensive range of contemporary techniques. Due to the personalised nature of the instruction and limited capacity, registration is essential, and places will fill quickly. Please note: participation is restricted to delegates fully registered for the conference. Don’t miss this exceptional educational opportunity.
